Sustainable Massasoit

2017 Earth Overshoot Day

Earth Overshoot Day marks the date each year when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services exceeds what our planet can regenerate in a year. This year that date is August 2, six days earlier than in 2016 and the earliest ever since these calculations began.

In concert with 2017 Earth Overshoot Day, Global Footprint Network has launched a new mobile-friendly calculator that individuals can use to measure and assess their own ecological footprint. Calculate your own personal overshoot day and find out how many planets it takes to support your lifestyle.
